Current ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) ranked No.9 player Gael Monfils of France, adds another fantastic win to his career titles collection after an impressive 6-2, 6-4 win over young Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Monfils, who was seeded No.3 in the tournament, cruised to the final after winning in straight sets in each of his tournament victories. His toughest opponent came from British star Daniel Evans who is ranked No. 33 in the ATP rankings. Monfils topped Evans 7(7)-6(5), 6-2, in the Quarters, on February 14th, and within 2 days, was crowned the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament champion in the final.
This title is huge for Monfils, as he shows that he is capable of consistently bringing home the title in year-round tournaments. This title is also his second win in a row after defeating Vasek Pospisil in the Open Sud de France (7-6,6-3).
The next couple of months in the 2020 ATP Calendar will provide Monfils and other players with a variety of tournaments to participate in, in order to get in some extra practice before the majors later on this year.
