Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball has been voted the NBA's ROY for the 2020-2021 season.
Ball averaged 15.7 ppg, 6.1 apg, and 5.9 rpg all at just 19-years-old. This ROY was also the youngest in NBA history to ever record a triple-double (22 pts, 12 rebounds, 12 assists).
Ball joined the league after successfully being drafted 3rd overall in the 2020 draft. Since then, he has completely taken over and dominated during his rookie season. Although compared statistically with Anthony Edwards, both put on an evenly exciting rookie season that shows how bright the future of the league is.
While he missed 21 games due to a broken wrist, Ball still led all rookies in assists and finished second in scoring (Rookie Edwards-1st). He now joins Larry Johnson (1993) and Emaka Okofor (2005) as the third Charlotte player to land these honors.
Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and Sacramento Kings Tyrese Haliburton finished 2nd and 3rd and ROY voting.
