It Is Tiring Watching Black-ish Get Nominated For Emmys, and Not Win

Since 2014, Black-ish has been gracing our television screens with content that allows us to laugh, cry, think, and reflect on the craziness that is our own families. For the past 3 years, and 3 almost 4 seasons, they have been nominated for multiple awards, including but not limited to, NAACP Image Awards, Critics Choice, the TCAs, KCAs, BET Awards, the Golden Globes, and the Emmys. Not only are they nominated heavily, but they clean up very well.

Marcus Scribner stays with the custom suits, Yara Shahidi's curls stay on fleek, Tracee Ellis Ross bawdys every gown she wears, Miles Brown's bowtie game is super strong, Marsai Martin is the fashion envy of all mothers with children ages 9-13, and Anthony Anderson comes and steals the red carpet like the fashion guru he is.

For the past two Emmy seasons, Blackish has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series. Every year, they lose to shows such as Veep or Transparent. It sucks, because watching as a fan, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera, I see the endless hours that the cast and crew put into these episodes. Not only are they hardworking, but they are funny as well.

Without Blackish, we wouldn't have the iconic Marsai Martin gif(s), the thought provoking "Lemons" episode, nor would we have the upcoming spin-off, Grownish. We literally watched Marcus, Yara, Marsai, and Miles grow up before our eyes.

It is plain to see that the only time Blackish is recognized is when we do it ourselves. Either way, we will continue to support and love the show that supports and loves us.
