Juneteenth Is On Its Way To Becoming A National Holiday .

2020 might be the year in which there is more celebration than ever for Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a holiday in which African Americans celebrate the Emancipation of the last slaves being held in Texas on June 19,1865. Amid protests over police brutality and black lives, African Americans are coming together to celebrate and call for Juneteenth as a national holiday. People all over the world coming together to celebrate the official end of slavery.

Even big companies like Nike, The NFL, Twitter, and more are recognizing Juneteenth as a holiday and giving employees paid time off. This a big step towards making Juneteenth a holiday that everyone knows because so many companies still consider this day as regular. The call for Juneteenth being recognized as a holiday all over the nation is because many African Americans feel as though their history should be shared and celebrated. June 19, 1865 is not a day that should be swept over the rug or eliminated from history.

African American history is something that should be celebrated and advocating for Juneteenth to become a national holiday is shows that African Americans are fed up with America trying to degrade their existence. African Americans should be able to live in a country without fearing for their lives or having their history go without acknowledgement.

Happy Juneteenth Day!
