Atlanta’s own Lil Yachty stepped back on the music scene with the release of his sophomore mixtape, Michigan Boy Boat. For the past few months, Yachty has been frequently collaborating with many Michigan artists ranging from acts such as Sada Baby to BFB Da Packman.
Back in October of 2020, Lil Yachty let the world know that his mixtape Michigan Boy Boat would release before the end of the year, and seven months later, the Georgia rapper delivered. The fourteen track project boasts features from Michigan’s finest such as Rio Da Yung OG, Baby Smoove, and Babyface Ray.’ The tape also includes a feature from frequent Detroit collaborator, artist Tee Grizzley. In 2017, Yachty and Tee Grizzley released their first collaboration, “From the D to the A”, and since then the duo has been collaborating on each other’s individual projects.
Lil Yachty also released the visual for the song, “Stunt Double” while also showing the behind the scenes of how Michigan Boy Boat came together on his YouTube show, The Boat Show. In Addition to releasing his mixtape, Yachty also released merchandise consisting of t-shirts and hoodies.
Michigan Boy Boat is Lil Yachty's seventh project release since his 2016 debut mixtape, Lil Boat. This tape could have only been created after Yachty made several trips to Michigan embracing the culture and underground music scene that they have.
