Netflix and Duvernay's,"When They See Us" sweeps Emmy 2019 nominations



Black excellence never fails and this morning the Emmy 2019 nominations were released and limited series, "When They See Us" (Netflix) sweeps the board in categories: Limited Series, Lead Actor in a Limited Series, Lead Actress in a Limited Series, Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, Directing for a Limited Series, and Writing for a Limited Series.


Amongst these categories Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight & When They See Us) received his first Emmy nomination for the role of Korey Wise in Lead Actor in a Limited Series. Aunjanue Ellis and Niecy Nash also received Emmy nominations in Lead Actress in a Limited Series for their roles in the series as well. Followed by Marsha Stephanie Blake, Asante Blackk, and Michael K. Williams as Supporting Actor/Actress in a Limited Series.


Lastly, "When They See Us" director, Ava Duvernay tops the chart in being nominated for Directing for a Limited Series and Writing for a Limited Series for 'Part Four' with writing partner Michael Starrbury.
