During the spring of 2014, people begin spouting the ballad, "No Flex Zone" without even truly knowing what it meant, and in late summer of that same year, those same individuals began claiming that they ain't have "No Type". And by December, they wanted to "Throw Sum Mo" even though it was cold. Those three anthems took over 2014 and many people began asking, who are the voices behind these youthful and reckless anthems. They are no other than Mississippi's own ---- Rae Sremmurd.
Rae Sremmurd, a brother duo comprised of older sibling, Aaquil Brown, otherwise known as Slim Jxmmi and younger brother, Khalif Brown, better known as Swae Lee were all of 21 and 19 years old respectively when their debut album, SremmLife dropped in January of 2015. For a debut album to have viral hits such as "No Flex Zone", "No Type", and "Throw Sum Mo" Rae Sremmurd let us know that they were not a three hit wonder and hat they would continue to have a catalog of party anthems. Their youth and carefree attitude allowed them to create an album and cultural experience full of fun, relationship drama, strippers, parties, safe sex, and everything else a young adult would fall in love with.
They entered the scene dancing and wilding out on stage so much so to the point where Slim Jxmmi cut open his leg and began bleeding profusely at Governor's Ball in 2015. Minute accidents like this did not stop the show. Performing injured is all apart of the SremmLife. Living life to the fullest extent without fear is the essence of SremmLife. This often thoughtless behavior is what made the contemporary landscape of rap music fun and exciting. Who would have thought that two boys from Tupelo, Mississippi would shift the excitement of music.
Happy 4 Years Of SremmLife!
